The EDTECH Mailing List

Interested in talking to other teachers on the leading edge of technology in education? Why not join an internet mailing list? One of the most active is the EDTECH mailing list. Be prepared for a very full mailbox, this list can generate more than thirty messages a day.

According to their welcome message:

'This list was conceived to bring together students, faculty, and "interested others" in the field of educational technology to share ideas and information. There are more than 3000 subscribers from about 50 countries on the EDTECH list. As well, EDTECH is carried on USENET NEWS as bit.listserv.edtech, on the AskERIC gopher server, and on private electronic bulletin boards at several universities.'

All of the messages that are sent to the list are also placed into the searchable EDTECH WWW Archive.

To join this list, send the message "sub EDTECH your name" to listserv@msu.edu. Make sure that you keep the welcome message they send you so that you will know how to leave the list.

Topics discussed include:

• problems in using educational technology and how to solve them
• articles and books on the topic
• information about course offerings
• requirements at various schools
• notable educational hardware and software, as well as junk one should avoid
• conferences and events related to educational technology
• current dissertations and research projects in educational technology

What can you do if you don't have time to wade through over 30 messages every day? Just check back here once a week.
