SNAP, the Student Notebook Access Plan is a partnership between Toshiba, Australian Schools, and resellers created to promote the use of laptop computers in education.
The purchase price of a computer is only a fraction of the true cost of bringing a computer into your school. The Detwiler Foundation has a "Computers For Schools Program" that is bringing donated new and used computers to schools. They started in California and are now expanding nationwide. The CEO Forum on Education and Technology is an organization of education and business leaders. Their mission statements says that they exist "to help ensure that every child in the United States is equipped with the essential technological, critical thinking, and communications skills necessary to compete in the 21st century." The Information network of the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (InSITE) is a site dedicated to exploring ways in which the Internet can benefit teacher education programs around the world. Classroom Connect provides information and links about the use of the Internet in grades K - 12. |
