Donates 250 Laptop Computers and Online Access to District 4

HOWELL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 2000-- Hip-Hop Entrepreneur Russell Simmons,

and Former NBA Star Michael Glenn Attend Event

Youthline USA (OTC BB: YLNE) (http://www.youthline-usa.com/), the nation's only multi-media organization offering total integration of news, technology, and curriculum-based online activities, launched a $600,000 pilot program today with the donation of 250 wireless computers with Internet and email access to District 4 in East Harlem.

The program, which allows students to take the laptops home, will bring computer literacy into the lives and homes of hundreds of students, improving their critical thinking skills and laying the groundwork for their future success.

Attending the event at East Harlem's Junior High School 117 were Superintendent of District 4 Evelyn Castro, hip-hop entrepreneur Russell Simmons - who participated in a Q&A with students, and former NBA player and literacy advocate, Mike Glenn. The Harbor Junior High School for the Performing Arts Chorus entertained the audience with a set of songs including ``Lean on Me.''

``We are extremely grateful to the New York City Board of Education, Russell Simmons, Mike Glenn and all our special guests, sponsors, teachers, parents, and students for supporting this groundbreaking new program,'' said Dr. Susan Gertler, Co-Founder and Publisher of Youthline USA. ``In schools across the nation, Youthline has become an essential element in the classroom, providing teachers with the tools necessary to break the digital divide and encourage reading. I congratulate Superintendent Castro and all the dedicated teachers of District 4 for their progressive approach to education.''

Saki Dodelson, Co-Founder and President of Youthline USA said, ``Youthline addresses two major concerns facing school children today: reading proficiently and computer literacy. Youthline USA addresses both of these problems. Computer literacy is fast becoming a vital component to a student's future success and Youthline provides students with the chance to excel through exciting learning exercises, which prepare them for real world situations.''

The aim of the program is to encourage children to read news on a daily basis, familiarize themselves with E-mail and become more comfortable with computer technology, while improving their reading abilities.

Superintendent Castro added, ``We are very excited about our partnership with Youthline USA. This event brings us one step closer to realizing our goal of bringing technology into the lives and homes of our students and their families.''
